Freemen Schools, 1865-1973
After the Civil War ended, Blacks in Franklin County, Tennessee, founded their own schools and attended those ran by the Freedmen’s Bureau, American Missionary Society, and other Freedmen’s aid groups. Freemen's Schools included:
- Winchester Private;
- Winchester Bureau;
- Wilson Freedmen;
- Decherd Colored Station;
- Ms. Scott School;
- Decherd Colored;
- Providence;
- Danville;
- Winchester Freedmen;
- Union Hall;
